The AttiCat® Expanding Blown-in Insulation System uses Owens Corning AttiCatTM Expanding Blown-in PINK FIBERGLASTM Insulation, which is mold-resistant, noncorrosive and does not absorb moisture.  It’s the best choice over alternative loose fill materials.

Fiberglass Vs. Cellulose

AttiCat® FiberglasTM


  • Has the ability to provide the same desired R-value or higher as that of Cellulose.
  • Made from sand and other inorganic materials and has no resin added so it does not itch AT ALL!                 
  • AttiCat® FiberglasTM is naturally noncombustible and remains this way for the lifetime of the product
  • AttiCat® will disappear or melt when in contact with flame and will not smolder or transfer flame.
  • AttiCat® can be blown into walls, floors and attics.
  • AttiCat® will never settle throughout the life of the product.
  • Does not absorb moisture or pick up humidity in the air thus not affecting it’s R-value                    
  • AttiCat® will not corrode pile or wires because it has no resins or chemicals added to retard fire.
  • AttiCat® is Greener than Cellulose. It takes 3 times as much Cellulose to achieve the same R-value as AttiCat®.
  • Very controlled installation process and very clean. No dust blowing around. Little clean up.
  • AttiCat® can also be blown into walls from attic or by using polypropylene fabric over wall cavity and blown in through hole at top.
  • Does not have the same R-value per square inch as Fiber glass products have
  • Cellulose is made from ground up and shredded newspaper but is then treated with harsh fire retardant chemicals
  • These chemicals wear off over-time. Fire rating is only tested up to 6 months after manufacture
  • Cellulose will not burn but will transfer flame and smolder causing smoke to form.
  • Even well treated Cellulose will burn at 450 degrees or the temperature of a 75 watt light bulb
  • Cellulose will settle over time. Manufacturers say >20%
  • When Cellulose gets wet it loses R-value and settles and never obtains its previous R-value. May take 2 months to dry.
  • Cellulose contains chemicals known to corrode pipes and wires over time.
  • Very dusty and dirty installation. Gets everywhere. Lots of clean up.
  • In 10 yrs, Cellulose in an 8’ wall will settle to 2’ leaving 6’ of insulated wall.
